Feel the material. Luxury knitwear uses luxurious fibres. Cashmere feels soft, smooth, and light. Merino wool should be fine and flexible, never scratchy. Alpaca and mohair feel warm, fluffy, and slightly silky. If the jumper feels synthetic, plasticky, unusually coarse, or unusually flimsy, it’s unlikely to be genuine.
